Grant Gross

June 27, 2023

ExtraHop has been named a leader among network analysis and visibility (NAV) solutions providers, earning the highest possible scores in 20 out of 29 criteria in The Forrester Wave™: Network Analysis And Visibility, Q2 2023. According to the report, ExtraHop has the largest market presence among the leaders.

The Forrester report states: “ExtraHop’s superior vision focuses on exposing assets that touch the network without introducing additional overhead and noise that require a heavy lift from SOC analysts.”

The 20 criteria in which ExtraHop received a 5/5 score included:

  • Current Offering: Threat Detection, Detection Integrations, Framework Mapping, Types of Threat Detected, Encrypted Traffic Analysis, Detection Technologies, Asset Discovery, Response, Deployment, Cloud, Egress and Internal Visibility, Retrospective Analysis, Contextual Details, APIs and Other Integrations
  • Strategy: Vision, Innovation, Roadmap, Adoption
  • Market Presence: Revenue, Number of Customers

The Forrester Wave report pointed out: “ExtraHop was built from the ground up as a network performance monitoring tool. It provides deep visibility into network traffic with definitive event correlations right out of the box for large global enterprise clients.”

Forrester recommended that large enterprises with hybrid and multi-cloud deployments evaluate us for their NAV needs. The report noted our ability to decrypt all traffic, including TLS 1.3 and perfect forward secrecy (PFS), which allows for deep insight into network packets.

Forrester, in an earlier report titled “The Network Analysis And Visibility Landscape, Q1 2023," describes NAV as “security solutions that deploy passively to analyze network traffic to detect threats using behavioral and signature-based approaches; discover and establish relationships between assets; analyze traffic flow; extract relevant metadata; enable full or targeted packet capture; integrate with other control points to remediate detected threats; and enable network forensics.”

In the Wave report, Forrester noted that customers described their relationship with ExtraHop as being built on mutual trust, with a focus on customer enablement.

“The UI is intuitive and easy to navigate, providing contextual breakdowns of what’s happening and why it’s important,” the report said. “The vendor pays particular attention to analyst experience in the UI by delivering contextual workflows without having to open multiple tabs.”

Forrester also noted we offer robust MITRE ATT&CK correlation and allow users to drill down to potential issues without having to open multiple consoles.
